Item Number: SCP-767-U

Object Class: Euclid (reclassification to Keter pending)

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-767-U is to be contained within a 5 by 3 by 3 meter chamber at ████-███. The walls and ceiling of this room are to be constructed of reinforced steel at least 8 centimeters thick. The door on the southern side of this chamber is to be made to the same specifications, and can only be opened using a 9-digit code, which only members of O5 Command and personnel assigned to ████-███ with a security clearance at or above Level 4 have access to. Requests to open this door require the approval the ████-███ head administrator or at least two members of O5 Command. The floor of SCP-767-U's chamber is to be equipped with a mechanism that allows it to swing open.

The feeds from two sets of surveillance cameras - one set situated on the northern side of the chamber containing SCP-767-U, and another on the southern side - are to be monitored by Foundation personnel at all times. In the event that instances of SCP-767-U-2 emerge from SCP-767-U, personnel are to activate a mechanism that pumps a gas known to be fatal to SCP-767-U-2 (see Document #767-258 for details concerning its composition and manufacture) into SCP-767-U's chamber. The floors of the chamber will then open up so that all SCP-767-U-2 corpses fall into a grater below. The floor is only to be retracted into its original position after an interval of time, randomly set to 5 to 99 hours, has passed. After the floor retracts into its original position, Foundation technicians are to enter the chambers, to make any repairs and to look for any alterations that SCP-767-U-2 may have made to the chamber.

O5 Command may decide to alter usual containment procedures in order to capture live SCP-767-U-2 specimens for study, via a super-majority vote. When this occurs, O5 Command must communicate to the ████-███ staff exactly how many SCP-767-U-2 are to be captured. Once this number has been attained, containment procedures must immediately return to their previous specifications. Under the alternative containment procedures, a gas designed to knock SCP-767-U-2 specimens unconscious for at least three hours (See Document #767-316) is to take the place of the fatal gas that is usually pumped into SCP-767-U's chamber upon SCP-767-U-2 arrival. After specimens are determined to be unconscious, each SCP-767-U-2 specimen is to be transported to designated holding cells at ████-███. These cells are to accessible via one passcode-protected door. None of these cells may have observation windows or any way to look directly into the interior other than through the door. However, the interior of the holding cells are to remain under constant surveillance via security cameras. Food is to be delivered to these cells via pneumatic transports at 800 and 1600 hours daily.

Tests involving SCP-767-U-2 specimens must be approved by the ████-███ head administrator or two O5 Command members, and must be held at ████-███. SCP-767-U-2 specimens must be transported to testing sites while unconscious. Proposed tests must include safety measures to ensure that SCP-767-U-2 do not affect non-test subjects or breach containment.

In case of catastrophic containment failure, ████-███'s nuclear failsafe explosives may be activated. Following this, SCP-767-U must immediately be enclosed at all costs. Research exploring how SCP-767-U may be neutralized is currently ongoing.

Description: SCP-767-U is a portal leading into what is now believed to be a parallel dimension (designated SCP-767-U-1) closely resembling the one in which the Foundation exists. SCP-767-U was discovered following the impact of an unknown (believed to have been extraterrestrial) object which completely destroyed the town of ████, ██████ and the surrounding area. ████-███ was constructed shortly afterwards near the bottom of the resulting crater.

SCP-767-U-1 is believed by Foundation physicists to have identical or near-identical physics to that of the Foundation's universe. Based upon various expeditions, it has been confirmed that life and possibly an advanced civilization exists in this universe. However, due to a variety of reasons, further expeditions into SCP-767-U-1 are not allowed at this time.

SCP-767-U-2 is a species of bipedal humanoid lifeforms that have been encountered numerous times in SCP-767-U-1. Although lacking the strength and the agility of typical human beings, SCP-767-U-2 have displayed aggression, advanced weaponry, and complex tactics and maneuvers in addition to their anomalous properties, making them incredibly dangerous.

Based upon multiple tests with D-Class personnel, it is believed that when a human being is within the field of vision of an instance of SCP-767-U-2, that human (designated SCP-767-U-3) freezes in place and becomes incapable of motion or speech. This occurs even when it appears that an instance of SCP-767-U-2 does not necessarily focus upon SCP-767-U-3; Even when SCP-767-U-3 occupy an area believed to be in SCP-767-U-2's peripheral vision, the paralyzing effect will still occur. Once SCP-767-U-3 are entirely out of the field of vision of SCP-767-U-2,  SCP-767-U-3 may be able to move and speak again. Viewing footage or photographs of SCP-767-U-2 looking directly or indirectly at the camera lens does not have any sort of anomalous effect.

Those previously under SCP-767-U-2's effects usually describe the experience as highly unpleasant. If an instance of SCP-767-U-2 looks directly at SCP-767-U-3, more lasting psychological trauma and/or damage may occur, the extent of which appears to be highly coordinated with the accumulated amount of time that SCP-767-U-2 have focused upon a particular SCP-767-U-3 individual. Those most affected cannot be treated with amnesiacs and are to be considered a threat to others.

Addendum 1: The following is a summary of a series of tests performed to assess the effects of SCP-767-U-2 on SCP-767-U-3. In each test, one SCP-767-U-2 specimen was secured in a room and into a device designed to minimize body and head movement and to keep their eyelids open at all times. In an adjacent room, one subject (all extracted from D-Class personnel population) was told to stand facing a metal shutter seperating the rooms. The shutter would then be opened for a predetermined amount of time, forcing the subject into SCP-767-U-2's field of vision. The period of time in which the shutters were open and the angle at which SCP-767-U-2 was oriented laterally relative to the subject (to study the effects of being the focus of SCP-767-U-2s' vision as opposed to being in SCP-767-U's peripheral vision) differed from test to test.

Test 1
Subject: D-Class #1086, male, 37 years old
Time Shutter Open: 5 seconds
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 55°
Results: Once no longer under SCP-767-U-2's effects, subject became extremely angry once unparalyzed and swore profusely at researchers. No longer-term effects noted

Test 2
Subject: D-Class #3976, female, 44 years old
Time Shutter Open: 15 seconds
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 55°
Results: Once no longer under SCP-767-U-2's effects, subject broke down into tears and demanded to know why she was put through the test. She later displayed greater fear and paranoia about Foundation personnel. Follow-up indicates that these feelings had largely subsided after a week

Test 3
Subject: D-Class #0874, male, 31 years old
Time Shutter Open: 30 seconds
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 55°
Results: Once no longer under SCP-767-U-2's effects, subject clutched its chest and mentioned that it felt as if his heart had ceased beating when under SCP-767-U-2's effect. Since this assertion, all subjects in future tests have had their heart rate monitored. All output indicates that the heart rates of all subjects dramatically decrease until reaching a minimum of 5 beats per minute. This slowdown occurs within 15 seconds for subjects in SCP-767-U-2's peripheral vision and within 2 seconds for subjects that are the focus of SCP-767-U-2's sight.

Subject requested a cigarette and assurances that it would not undergo similar tests in the future. Both requests were denied

Test 7
Subject: D-Class #2237, male, 52 years old
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 55°
Time Shutter Open: 60 seconds
Results: Once no longer under SCP-767-U-2's effects, subject expressed extreme anxiety, and immediately begged never again to be subjected to the same experience again. D-Class's behavior was unusually compliant until its scheduled termination 12 days later

"Intriguing. Maybe we can use captured -2's to improve the performance of our D-Class. I know that I could certainly make use of such a threat." -Dr. Gregory Smith, Head Administrator, ████-██

"While the thought of such a method of persuasion is tempting, the risk that SCP-767-U-2 breech containment or affect unintended personnel during transport outweighs the potential benefits. Aside from that, your assumption is made from the results of only one test. Please try to engage in a more scientific mindset." -O5-8

Test 21
Subject: D-Classs #7865, male, 32 years old
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 0°
Time Shutter Open: 5 seconds
Results: Once no longer under SCP-767-U-2's effects, subject gasped for air and began sweating profusely. Subject then hyperventilated for a period of roughly two minutes. Subject reported that immediately upon making eye-contact with SCP-767-U-2 that it felt a "sensation of being stabbed in the heart", although there was no actual evidence of physiological damage. Subject expressed that the option that "nobody should ever have to go through this sort of thing". Subsequent observation indicated that D-Class #7865 had largely recovered from the effects of the test by the time that it was terminated. However, the subject did display frequent anxiety while sleeping in an REM state.

Test 27
Subject: D-Class #7904, female, 35 years old
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 0°
Time Shutter Open: 15 seconds
Results: Once no longer under SCP-767-U-2's effects, subject immediately collapsed and experienced a seizure. None of the treatments normally used for seizures were effective. Subject regained consciousness 18 minutes later, and displayed extreme discomfort around all personnel present. When questioned, subject eventually reported the same stabbing sensation experienced by subjects in Tests 21 through 26, followed by descriptions of "something rifling through my insides. It felt as if something were touching everything inside me," which were reportedly extremely uncomfortable. This sensation originated in subject's chest area before quickly moving into its head before the test ended. Follow-up indicated that subject experienced symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder in the days following the test. These were alleviated somewhat with the application of Class-A amnesiacs, but did not entirely recede by the time of the subject's termination.

Test 34
Subject: D-Class #10965, male, 40 years old
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 0°
Time Shutter Open: 30 seconds
Results: Subject did not display feelings of fear or panic upon being released from SCP-767-U-2's effects. Instead, subject immediately began beating upon the shutter, using its arms as a battering ram. Subject was quickly apprehended by security personnel, and, after a brief altercation, was administered a general sedative and subdued. Two hours later in a secure interrogation room, subject regained conscious and was able to speak with Dr. Marcus Levin via intercom.

Dr. Levin: "#10965, can you hear me?"
D-Class #10965: "Yes. I can hear you."
Dr. Levin: "#10965, do you remember the test that was conducted today?"
D-Class #10965: "Yes. I remember the test, and that... that creature."
Dr. Levin: "Alright. Can you explain your actions once the shutters closed? You were told beforehand to stand in the same location until a security team came escort you away.
D-Class #10965: Doctor, that creature deserved to die. I wanted to kill it."
Dr. Levin: "And why do you say that, #10965?"
D-Class #10965: "It judged me, Doctor. It fully examined me. It knew of all of my inner thoughts, all of my secrets. There was no way to hide it. It knew of my faults, all of my shortcomings. It knew why I was reassigned to D-Class. And it judged me to be unworthy. It judges all of us to be unworthy."
Dr. Levin: "#10965, please elaborate on what you mean by 'unworthy'."
D-Class #10965: "It has no right to judge us that way. It must die."
Dr. Levin: "#10965, again, please elaborate-"
D-Class #10965: "Doctor, is that... thing... still alive?"
Dr. Levin: "#10965, answer my questions or you will face immediate ter-"
D-Class #10965: "It's not dead yet, is it? I want to help the Foundation kill it, Doctor. I want to feel its last gasp of breath on my face. Nothing like that-"
Dr. Levin: "#10965, this is your last warning! Now, tell me what you meant by 'unworthy'."
D-Class #10965: "Is it still on-site? Perhaps there is still time."
Dr. Levin: "This interview is over."

D-Class #10965 died approximately 9 hours later in its cell after experiencing a massive seizure and then cardiac arrest.

Test 35
Subject: D-Class #9532, male, 27 years old
SCP-767-U-2 Angle Relative to D-Class: 0°
Time Shutter Open: 60 seconds
Results: D-Class #9532 stayed in the same position it had assumed when initially under SCP-767-U-2's effects for a total of over 7 minutes after the shutters had closed, even after the testing team requested for the test subject to walk towards the door to the testing room. Two security guards, Mr. Puchalski and Mr. Peters, were sent in to retrieve subject for debriefing. Upon opening the door to the testing door, subject tackled Mr. Puchalski to the floor and began strangling his throat. Mr. Peters first shot the subject with a powerful human barbiturate projectile, and, after this was ineffective in stopping the subject, forcibly restrained it. Additional security personnel were required to escort D-Class #9532 to a secure holding cell. Mr. Puchalski’s windpipe was crushed during the assault and he died shortly afterwards.

D-Class #9532 was observed in the holding cell until its scheduled termination 18 days later. On the first 3 of these days, the subject was heard and seen via security cameras pounding on random sections of steel wall and door continuously, even after its hands and arms were rendered inoperable due to the damage inflicted upon them. Following this, the subject was seen and heard shuffling in random patterns inside the holding cell for the entire remaining 15 days, also occasionally defecating onto the holding cell’s floor. On the date of termination, toxic gas pumped into the cell failed to terminate the test subject. Termination was only successfully carried out with the application of many, many rounds of machine gun fire. A sample of the subject’s fecal matter was sent to the ████-███ labs, and was found to contain unusually high concentrations of blood.

Addendum 2: The following are selected audio logs of Agent Johnson made during the initial exploration of SCP-767-U-1 shortly after SCP-767-U’s discovery.

██/██/████, 16:30 - "This is Agent Eric Johnson of Team Charlie Juliet Bravo. We’ve been sent to explore the anomaly at ████. The robots weren’t coming back until the scientists tried imputing commands through cables, so we know that radio communication between our universe and this one won’t work. Other than that, things on the other side seem pretty habitable. At the very least, we know we won’t be torn to shreds or be crushed or immediately burn up in there. The oxygen levels are a little higher than what we’re used to, but we’ll have enclosed suits and a supply of carbon dioxide that will last about 12 hours. So we’ll be good to go by tomorrow."

██/██/████, 8:55 - "Agent Eric Johnson of Team Charlie Juliet Bravo. All equipment and life-support is operational. We’re going in."

██/██/████, 9:10 - "Agent Eric Johnson. We've gone through SCP-767-U-2, which exits into what appears to be a broom closet. There are containers of various liquids, most of which contain scripts none of the team understands. This place may be inhabited by sentient beings."

██/██/████, 9:45 - "Agent Eric Johnson. We have been exploring a large structure outside of the closet. Based upon what we have seen, it appears to be either a large basement or a warehouse. There are pipes going into and out of the walls and ceiling, there are shelves filled with miscellaneous objects, and metals barrels and debris on the floor. A layer of dust covers everything here. We have collected a sample for the boys back at the lab.

It appears that this place, while apparently constructed by intelligent beings, may or may not be abandoned. The presence of intelligent beings on the destination side of SCP-767-U could create problems hindering its containment. The presence of our exploration party here could exacerbate those problems. The group is headed back through SCP-767-U to report our findings and wait until Command decides upon the next course of action."

██/██/████ 11:05 - "Agent Eric Johnson. Command has requested that we continue our exploration of SCP-767-U-1 using all due diligence. We have refilled our tanks and are about to return to SCP-767-U-1."

██/██/████, 11:25 - "Agent Eric Johnson. We have found stairs out of this place and have progressed up to what appears to be a former office. It also appears to be abandoned. The carpet has all been pulled up or stained, the ceiling tiles are missing or broken, and the only piece of furniture or equipment is what appears to be a computer monitor situated along the far wall.

I can see sunlight streaming in through windows to the left of us. We're going to investigate that next."

██/██/████, 12:05 - "Agent Eric Johnson here. There's some exciting news to report. We've found life outside of this building, analogous to plant life. It's sprouting up in all the cracks in the pavement here. Researcher Binds has already gathered a variety of specimens and soil samples. The mixture of gases outside is comparable to what the robots found in the basement.

Everything is progressing smoothly so far. We'll do some more outside exploration until 15:00, when we'll return back to SCP-767-U."

██/██/████, 14:05 - "Agent Eric Johnson. The similarities between SCP-767-U-1 and the Home Universe are many. Much of the supposed plant life here seemingly matches familiar species back home. There are trees, grasses, vines. We've also begun to encounter what appears to be animal life. So far we've encountered species indistinguishable from our deer and our birds.

There is still no sight of humans or species that seem capable of building the abandoned structures we keep finding. The environment we're in appears to be an industrial area that's been abandoned for... at least 5 or so of our years. The layout also doesn't seem to match that of ████ prior to its destruction, at least from the satellite photos I was able to study."

██/██/████, 14:45 - "Agent Eric Johnson. Interesting. We've just encountered what appears to be the first unique organism in SCP-767-U-1. It's a lanky biped, maybe 1.8 meters high, tops. Real ugly-looking thing. We weren't able to get a good look at it before it shambled away. I don't think it saw us."

██/██/████, 15:00 - "Agent Eric Johnson. We're calling it a day. Heading back to SCP-767-U now."

██/██/████, 15:40 - "Agent Eric Johnson here. Something odd just happened. Researcher Binds suddenly froze in place as we were turning a corner. I don't mean that she just stopped moving and collapsed. She literally froze in place, mid-stride. And then about ten seconds later, she, uh, unfroze, I suppose. She wants to leave this place as soon as possible and the rest of the team is a bit spooked.

There might be some sort of pathogen here that affects the nervous system. I guess we'll find out when the team is decontaminated."

██/██/████, 16:25 - "Agent Eric Johnson. There's a problem. The entrance to the building containing SCP-767-U in this universe is being blocked by five or so of those, uh, ugly creatures we found earlier. They're just... just shuffling around. They don't appear to be setting a trap or to even be aware of our existence. The team is hidden behind a dumpster now... We can hear their awkward, stilted language. It doesn't sound like any damn thing we've heard before. If we stay here, hopefully these damn things will just disperse of their own volition."

██/██/████, 16:45 - "Twenty fucking minutes. Thank god, they're finally gone. I'll be sure to report anything else unusual as we make our way back. Agent Johnson out."

██/██/████, 17:50 - "Our presence here has been detected. Agent McDonald was sent ahead to survey the street ahead, and he froze up, just like Binds did earlier. Three of the creatures we encountered earlier came back, and are just gawking at McDonald. I expected him to snap out of it and perhaps apply lethal force to keep our investigations a secret. But... He's just stayed frozen there for over... a goddamn hour now. The rest of the team remains behind the dumpster. I'm not sure how long our location can remain a secret."

██/██/████, 18:15 - "Agent McDonald is still frozen, surrounded by those idiots. One of them left. It might bring back others. Agent Conrad and I are discussing courses of action that might be prudent to take now. Maybe we can blast these two and make a run for it."

██/██/████, 18:20 - "Shit. We're too late. There is now a crowd of around 20 of the creatures surrounding McDonald. They won't leave. They won't fucking leave, goddammit. It's getting darker and Binds is really getting anxious. Why can't we get the hell out of here?"

██/██/████, 21:45 - "Agent Johnson. The crowd hasn't dissipated yet. We're going to start running out of concentrated carbon dioxide if we can't get back to the portal in an hour. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck."

██/██/████, 22:45 - "This is... Agent Johnson... I'm... I'm in the basement now... What was that? Oh god, I think he's tracking me. I've got to get out of here.

Binds and Conrad are gone. Str-Strangled by McDonald. It all happened so goddamned fast. So... goddamn fast. I... I really don't know how to explain what happened.

So, at some point, about twenty minutes ago, McDonald regained movement. But it wasn't like he was his old self. No. He moved faster than I've ever any living creature move. He was... just a goddamn blur. And he immediately went for the ugly, ugly creature nearest to him, and just... just... just decapitated the poor fuck in a single motion. It was enough to send the crowd into a panic, but... There was no way for them to run away fast enough. Each and every one of those creatures is dead. They're all dead. Fucking dead.

And that's when McDonald turned on us. He reached Binds first. There was no way for her to defend herself. She went... She went quickly. But she... she bought us some time. We were able to unload all of our ammunition into McDonald, tearing the shit out of his face and torso and legs. Wasn't enough to stop him, not even close. But we slowed him down.

Agent Conrad and myself made a run for the building, with McDonald in close pursuit the whole time. We managed to reach the door leading to the basement. But then then stairs... They just collapsed. I managed to get out alright, but... But Alex... Goddammit... Goddammit all to hell...

I'm nearing the portal. I can hear McDonald shuffling around down here, but I think I managed to lose him. If he knew where I was, I'd probably be dead by now.

I don't know what the deal is with this place, or with those fucking creatures. It isn't right for us to be here, somehow. All that I know is that... we've got to seal up -767 nice and tight. If McDonald or those... those filthy, filthy things... make it through the portal, there will be... hell to pay. Believe you me."

Agent Johnson was found dead at the entrance to SCP-767-U at ████-███ on ██/██/████, 24:30. The cause of death was determined to be severe trauma to the neck, accompanied by subsequent blood loss and suffocation. Agent Johnson's audio logs were reviewed and ████-███ was put on high-alert. As of ██/██/████, there have been no reported sightings of the entity formerly known as Agent Lionel McDonald.

Addendum 3: The following are selected audio logs of Agent Alicia Simmons, made during the second exploration of SCP-767-U-1. Agent Alicia Simmons was selected due to her extensive experience with stealth tactics.

██/██/████, 11:25 - "This is Agent Alicia Simmons. I’ll be entering SCP-767-U-1 to assess containment options for SCP-767-U on the far side of the portal. I expect to report back to command with my findings within two hours."

██/██/████, 11:28 - "Agent Simmons. The far side of the portal now empties into a metal box. I can see what appears to be a door and cameras on the far side.

The portal has already been contained. They know where to find us. Fuck."
To be... continued???
